This red tie that we have hung in the orchard is a pheromone disruption tie. It is one of a variety of integrated pest management tools that we use to limit the damage done to the crops by undesirable creatures. These ties disrupt the mating process of pests and help keep the pest population down. Wickham’s Fruit Farm supports the local economy by putting people to work in the manufacture and distribution of IPM equipment like these ties.
