Ever-bearing strawberries

When you need strawberries in September, it’s no longer necessary to buy strawberries shipped in from out of state. Our new ever-bearing strawberries bear fruit thoughout the whole season, beyond the traditional May/June strawberry period. Wickham’s Fruit Farm is proud to supply you with our own freshly-harvested local strawberries in May, June, July, August, September, and October.

Plum season has arrived

This week we present Fortune plums, a plum variety that has aromatic flavor and meaty texture. Our plums go well with pancakes and Long Island duck.

Rotating out the crops

Operating our Great Plains grain drill on a section of the ancient Indian broadfields, where the original, indigenous Americans planted corn. We are planting something different on this particular piece of land from what has been there in previous seasons, rotating out the crops so that the same crop does not grow on the same land for too long a period of time.

John Boy

This week we feature a high-quality freestone peach known as John Boy, which is a relatively recent peach variety, having been developed in 1981. As you can see from the picture, some of these peaches grow to large size.
