By pruning the trees in the winter, we enable more sunlight to enter the tree during the growing season, and the greater sunlight helps produce tastier, sweeter fruit.

Grinding the remains of old fruit trees into wood chips is one of the conservation practices we use here at Wickham’s Fruit Farm. The wood chips help conserve moisture and incorporate organic material into the soil in preparation for the next crop we will grow in this field.
